Owner of Frango Eduardo and Piri-Piri enthusiast.

My family has been visiting Portugal since the early 1970’s, meaning I was fortunate enough to explore the region from a young age. Frequenting the local ‘tascas’ and piri-piri shacks is where the obsession started, and Frango Eduardo is where it continues…

Although I never saw myself as a purveyor of Portuguese-inspired food and wine, after a lockdown redundancy, a summer of daily family barbecues to keep us entertained and a whole lot of soul-searching, Frango Eduardo was born.

I couldn’t understand why Portuguese food and wine was so poorly represented in York, and so after years of unparalleled piri-piri perfection whilst traversing the Iberian Peninsula, and plenty of personal practice, I saw an opportunity. I knew that I had to bring this humble dish home and do it justice for thousands of hungry northerners, offering them the opportunity to taste Portugal’s unpretentious – yet tasty and robust – cuisine, right here in York.

Determined to honour the authentic Portuguese cooking techniques, flavour and experience, our team aims to emulate the comfort and joy of an evening meal in a Portuguese tavern by taking humble ingredients and putting our spin on them, for our wonderful customers to enjoy right here at Frango Eduardo!
